The Abortion Pill | Medical Abortion

How early can the abortion pill be taken? Who is eligible?

What is the abortion pill? How does it work?

The abortion pill is two drugs and it's taken in one or two doses. The first medication blocks the hormone progesterone and the second medication starts early labor. It goes by many names including missed period pills, at-home abortion, self-managed abortion, 10-week-after pills, medication, medical or chemical abortion.

If you are considering ordering the abortion pill, it's important to rule out an ectopic pregnancy or a natural miscarriage and find out how far along you are via ultrasound. Conception calculators can only estimate LMP. Contact us for a free ultrasound and to learn more about abortion pills and your options.

When can you take the abortion pill?

The abortion pill is FDA-approved up through 10 weeks after a woman's last menstrual period. The number of pills ordered is determined by how far along you are.

The abortion pill is not an option for people with certain medical conditions, if the pregnancy is not viable, or if the pregnancy occurs outside of the uterus. Note: It is not the same as emergency contraceptives.

Is it safe to order the abortion pill by mail?

While you can order abortion pills by mail, it is a risk to your health and safety. Make an appointment today to confirm your pregnancy and how far along you are. This information can help you plan your next steps.
